Introduction
The Servizi a Rete TOUR is one of the most important events for the Utilities sector in Italy. The 11th edition, scheduled for June 25–26 in Florence, will bring together the main players in distribution networks and underground utility services, encouraging the exchange of experiences among utilities, technicians, institutions, and companies operating in the sector.
In this context, Onyax will participate both as an exhibitor and as a speaker during the technical session. The presentation entitled “Smart Water Networks: IoT Solutions and Neural Techniques for Water Quality and Water Footprint”, together with Acquedotto del Fiora and with the scientific support of the Department of Chemistry of the University of Pavia, will provide a complete practical overview of NEMO, from research to validation, highlighting the synergy between all involved stakeholders. This innovative project was also recently awarded by the Lombard Institute through the “Giovanni Francesco Brambilla Award”, a recognition assigned to projects capable of combining scientific research and industrial application with a concrete impact on society and local communities.
NEMO: from continuous monitoring to water footprint analysis
Following the success achieved during the previous edition through the application case presented together with A2A Ciclo Idrico, Onyax’s NEMO device has continued its technological development path within the research field, enhanced by advanced metrological and performance optimizations.
Equipped with a long-life integrated battery, multiparameter probes, modular sensors, and NB-IoT communication technology, NEMO is designed to monitor, analyze, and transmit in real time the main physico-chemical parameters of water: pH, ORP (Redox), free chlorine, temperature, flow rate, turbidity, and conductivity.
Its compact dimensions allow installation even in critical spaces such as manholes, inspection chambers, pumping stations, and water kiosks, either within road shell installations or inside regulation systems, depending on operational needs. This flexibility translates into faster implementation and reduced intervention times.
A distinctive element is the integration of advanced technologies such as Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), which enables the detection of even minimal variations. By applying a low-amplitude sinusoidal signal across a range of frequencies, the system can isolate different electrochemical phenomena and identify potential contaminations.

In addition, the integration of on-device Artificial Intelligence logic enables preliminary data processing directly in the field, effectively simplifying data exchange with the ACE platform.
Integration with the ACE Platform
The Onyax ACE platform collects, manages, and analyzes data from installed devices through a secure and scalable full-cloud infrastructure.
Each micro-laboratory is georeferenced and displayed through GIS overlay, providing a real-time interactive map capable of identifying anomalies or variations in monitored parameters.
Thanks to the processing of sensor-acquired data, the platform optimizes network monitoring activities, supporting predictive maintenance models and more efficient service management. The integration of collected information also enables water footprint estimation and more accurate monitoring of water resource conditions over time.
ACE also allows the automatic generation of periodic reports, dedicated dashboards, and alert systems, providing technicians and utilities with a centralized tool for continuous water quality monitoring.
Onyax’s mission: efficiency and sustainability
Onyax’s presence at the Servizi a Rete TOUR aims to create an opportunity for dialogue with all operators interested in innovating and digitalizing water network management, making infrastructures smarter and more resilient.
“Our mission is to bring concrete tools into the field to help utilities evolve toward more efficient and sustainable models,” commented Eng. Gian Paolo Quarta, CEO of Onyax. “With NEMO, we have delivered a technological solution capable of transforming water quality monitoring into a continuous, predictive, and data-driven process, helping address the current challenges of the water service sector.”
